Furniture shopping
29 September 2012 @ 10:20 PM
This is our major purchase after the dining table. Only within a few hours, we became $12,000 poorer.. OUCH!!
After a few visits of window shopping, we finally decided to head down to Harvey Norman for purchase. Bought quite a number of items there:
We spotted this set of sofa during our first visit to Harvey Norman Millenia and fell in love with it immediately. The white set is really beautiful but lazy people like us don't have the discipline to religiously clean and maintain it so we decided to get a grey set.
TV and sound system were easy. We just asked the sales person to recommend us the cheapest range. Hahahaa! By the time we walked over to the electronics section, we realised that we don't have much money left so have to choose the most basic ones. Ordered a LG 47" for living room and Panasonic 39" for study room.
Selection of fridge was pretty simple too. We thought all fridge serves the basic function so we chose this Sharp fridge simply because we like the color, design and most importantly, it's currently on promotion!! First time we saw, it was selling at $1099 and it is now $899! Of course must grab la!!
And I must say, we are very lucky cos Humi's MIL is working in Harvey Norman and is able to give us some good discount. So actually, it could have been more expensive but we ended up saving more than a thousand bucks! Heee, thank you Auntie Rita!!! :D
We were exhausted by the time we stepped out of Centre Point. Had a nice dinner break at TCC and we're off to the next destination - Sim Siang Choon.
Went to the Bukit Timah showroom and gosh, we were so lost when we saw so many types of basins, kitchen sinks, taps, stoves etc.. The variety is sooooo vast.. Seriously, if we didn't have our new place, I wouldn't know taps are that ex! A simple tap can cost up to few hundred bucks. Sigh, so we cheapo again lo, chose all the slightly cheaper range items but still spent about $1200+.
So what's the damage?

After a few visits of window shopping, we finally decided to head down to Harvey Norman for purchase. Bought quite a number of items there:
- Bed frame + mattress (this is the killer item!!)
- Sofa
- TV x 2 sets
- Sound system
- Fridge
The bed frame and mattress cost us a big bomb - almost half the cost of entire purchase. But I really like the fabric frame and it's the one and only that caught my eye. Have been to so many shops and this is the only piece that I like so no choice, buy lo..
