manila: mabuhay!
06 October 2008 @ 6:27 AM
my first visit to manila wasn't that scary afterall despite hearing many kidnap stories and people were telling me how unsafe it is over there and i shouldn't travel alone blah blah. trust me, it ain't that bad la.

i was pretty drained from all the overseas trips as i was traveling every other week for the last 2 months. i guess this would be my last trip for the year as the upcoming bangkok meeting is canceled again due to cost-cutting. all the late nights are not keeping me sane and i'm certainly not used to the early dawn and sunset in philippines. i jumped out of bed in the morning thinking that i overslept cos i saw the sun shining brightly. but when i looked at my hp, it was only 6am in the morning! and needless to say, it's pitch dark when it's only 6.30pm which it seems like 8 or 9ish in singapore.

what i dislike most is the traveling time between places. it took us 1 hour from hotel to our partner's office and the worst part is i can't even take a short nap during taxi trips cos keith always have so many things to talk to me.. i was trying soooo hard not to close my eyes during the meeting. the journey to our dinner location is 1.5 hours drive, which means for us to go back to hotel, we need 2.5 hours!!! peng san!

our partners are very hospitable or perhaps it's the nature of filipinos. they bought a carton of the local favorites - dried mango - and gave each of us several packets to bring it home. they also took us to a restaurant in tagatay where it is overlooking at the world's smallest volcano - taal! it is still an active one, you know! unfortunately, we missed the lake view cos by the time we got there, we saw nothing except the clouds. it feels like i'm in genting - cooling breeze and up on the mountains!

i missed going to the largest shopping mall by the name 'mall of asia'. i heard it's one of the largest in south east asia and there's like 9 cinemas, ice-skating ring, bowling, all the blahblah you can find under one roof! whoa! dammit! i must extend my next trip to visit mall of asia!

keith, partners and me for a photo with the award that we presented them. i looked half-awake.. yea, this is early in the morning where i just had full breakfast and super lack of sleep.

oh! must also show this very cute jeep in philippines! you can see them in the streets and they're taxis where you can flag and hop onboard. cute la!
