infor dinner & dance 2007

okay, this is gonna be a really looooong entry! hee hee!
finally the much anticipated dinner & dance has finally arrived! topics have been building up the last couple of days and we were all excited about dinner and post-dinner party! most of the folks took half-day off to go home and get changed. jeemeng (VP marketing) gave everyone off at 3pm but stupid me being in the committee had to be at the hotel by 3pm! i was lugging all my barang to the hotel but luckily we had a day room to wash up for the night.
the cocktail reception was really cool! everyone was snapping photos everywhere and of course being the cam-whore, i had my fair share of shots too! we had this instant photo thingy and elyn said i could use my photo cards as playing cards cos i had like a thick stack! jeemeng also teased me saying maybe the photographer is crushing on me.. *paisay*
dinner soon commenced but we were still excited about all the pictures and so we snapped a few more shots while the big bosses were making their welcome speeches blah blah blah!
we sat down to take some food, enjoyed the jazz band performance and it was then time for some games after the third dish. every table was given 3 packs of balloon and we had a 'building balloon tower' game. everyone was trying their best to blow the biggest balloons but some greedy ones burst the balloons instead! haha. i was busy stacking and sticking em together with the help of other mates.
some teams did their balloon tower on the floor, we did ours on the table and some even stick it onto the wall! LOL! so not creative!! BOOO! i thought our structure was really tall and we should win the game. but because philip aka ah bian (VP for ASEAN) is suppose to decide the winner between our table and anthony's (VP for financials, ASIA) table. well, so bias la! just because it's anthony's table, we lost!! but anyway, i din really fancy the prize - a 100 bucks voucher to be split between all! that's like 10 bucks per person!! #*@&!@$#%!
after all the hectic balloon building, all of us were feeling hungry and much needed to take more food. we enjoyed a session of salsa dance performance and jazz band goes back on stage again for the second-half of the night. raymond was then complaining how come he din even have a picture while we had tons! to please him, we gathered everyone at the table and took this specially for him. hmm, but i thought this pic looks like the ones you take during wedding dinners! ha!
the night got really hyped in the later half of the night as we got a dancing competition coming up next. what actually happened was linda (head of committee) chose pairs of couples to go up and we have dancing instructors to teach the teams simple steps. the best couple wins! unfortunately, when there were an extra male on stage, my name was being called! it was such embarrassing moment that both me and elyn were trying to duck away from the crowd since we didn't know which eleen/elyn they were calling. what's the best part? adrian pang had to come over and pulled both of us up front. and since both of us went up, we're short of another male so this time, the crowd actually called upon our guest-of-honor, mark (area VP for ASIA) to come join rest of us.
after mark came up, the next thing i knew was he standing beside me and he's gonna be my partner for the dance! wooo. a bit too much for me to handle the big boss but luckily he's a very kind man and i felt pretty comfortable with him leading me. but the feeling is like you're dancing with your uncle or father you know! anyway, we had such good chemistry that we won the first prize!! whoooo-hoooo! was pleasantly surprised and had this feeling that the limelight was on us for a couple of seconds! haha! anyway, the prize was a buffet dinner for 2 at marina mandarin which i'm gonna take my xiaopang there. hee.
by the time we went back to the table after the dance, it was already serving dessert! luckily serene did save some food for me and i was gobbling down the fried rice and cod fish. we had some lucky draw at the end of the evening but too bad, none of the marketing folks won anything but i'm sure we all had lotsa fun at the dinner. our table was the most rara one and once the dinner ended, all the bosses came over and sat down for some drinks. we thought there would be a post-dinner party but no! everyone went home. pauline was kinda upset and was ranting the rest of the night at the hotel!
but nonetheless, i truly enjoyed myself very much at the dinner. enjoyed the merry company of the nice colleagues i have, especially babes from the marketing team. i never felt so attached to the previous companies that i worked in before.
i'm proud to be an inforian!
